Hi, I’m Kathy Hoiland.

“I’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.”

― John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America

I’m a wife, mother, special-education paraprofessional, future teacher, Dawson Community College trustee, court-appointed special advocate, and all-around passionate human. Over the years I have channeled my passion towards making the world a better place as opportunities have presented themselves. I believe that service is a way of life and certainly, my purpose. I moved from the Denver Metro area when I was 16 and instantly found home here in Eastern Montana. I graduated from Dawson County High School and from Dawson Community College.

I live in the best place in the world and I am so thankful for the community around me, in both Sidney and my home town: Glendive. I love to travel to new places and experience new cultures.

My family and friends are the best pieces of my life and I enjoy spending as much time with them as possible. I am endlessly curious about everything, all the time, and as a result, have asked enough questions to be an instigator of change.

My husband, Thomas, and I have been married for almost 13 years. We have 3 wonderful children Luke (10), Daniel (7), and Shiloh (3), plus our bonus niece, Maddy (16), they are my pride and joy. We are very lucky to have a multi-generational home with my mom living with us. We cannot forget our two fuzzy family members; Daisy and Jane are my two border collies who are my favorite neurotic good girls and last but certainly not least, the teens’ cat, Lilo.

Our home is nerdy, we love to play board games (the weird ones), go on adventures in Makoshika State Park, and build Legos together. We enjoy family trips to mueseums, zoos, theme parks, and visiting our far away family.
